Healing Our Movements, Sustaining Our People
Since 2006, Kindred has held space for a radical truth: collective healing and collective liberation are inseparable. We are Southern healers and organizers building wellness infrastructure for movements facing trauma, violence, and burnout.
We develop healing justice practices rooted in our cultural and political traditions, honoring ancestral wisdom while responding to the conditions our communities face today.
What is Healing Justice?
Healing Justice is a political strategy conceived in 2005, and formally launched in 2006 by the Kindred Southern Healing Justice Collective to intervene and respond on generational trauma and systemic oppression, and build community/survivor led responses rooted in southern traditions of resiliency to sustain our emotional/physical/spiritual/psychic and environmental well being.
We conceptualize healing justice not as a movement in and of itself, but rather as a framework for movements to address collective harm and trauma.
Thank you for your interest in helping to create this vital space for strengthening our movements as we seek to build, integrate, and transform models for health and healing work inside of our social justice movements and communities for our emotional, physical, spiritual, and environmental well being.
